Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microblading?

Unlike the art of block tattooing, Microblading is soft, subtle and natural. Also known as feathering, eyebrows embroidery and nano brows – Microblading is a process where hair like strokes are drawn on the brows to mimic natural brow hair. The simulated hair strokes provide a subtle coverage to existing brows making them appear fuller, more fluffier and volumised.

What is the difference between Microblading, Ombre Powder and Combo MicroShading brows?

The difference is in the technique used to create your desired look. Microblading is done by creating micro incisions on the skin surface and filling them with pigments to create hair like strokes that resemble hairs.

Ombre Powder brow is done by dotting the skin (also called ‘pixelisation’ or ‘airbrushing’) to give the impression of wearing makeup.

Combo MicroShading brows is a combination of Ombre Powder with Microblading. This treatment is a crossover between blading and shading. The effect that this combination creates are very fine hair strokes that gradually get darker towards the tail of the brow. The results are natural and subtle looking brows with a powdery, pencil-in finish.

Is Microblading permanent?

Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment. The pigment will lighten and gradually fade over time.

Is Microblading suitable for me?

If you have oily skin type or use excessive active ingredient products (such as retinols and AHA), the pigment will not retain well in your skin. Sensitive skin types and oily skin can also cause discolouration and blurring of the mirco fine strokes created during the Microblading process.

What will my eyebrows look like immediately after?

Your brows will appear dark and intense immediately after the treatment. It will remain looking this way for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the healing process. Once healed, the pigment colour will lighten 30-50% from the colour you see immediately after.

How long does Microblading take to heal?

The surface healing process which involves scabbing and peeling, can take between 1-2 weeks. Your skin takes about 4-6 weeks to regenerate and fully heal. During this time, it is normal for your brows to look noticeably faded. The true colour results will be seen by the end of the healing process.

What if I do not like my new brows?

As with all permanent makeup treatments, you should not make your choices lightly. We recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists' work and portfolio before making their final decision.

Our brow artist will do their utmost best to shape and style your eyebrows to your satisfaction prior to the treatment. You will have every chance to review and approve your new brow design during consultation, at your appointment.

Can I get Microblading done if I am pregnant?

As a precaution to avoid any complications (as rare and unlikely as the case may be), the treatment is not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding.

How long does Microblading last?

As microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Each individual's colour retention within the skin will vary.

Microblading typically lasts 12-24 months, depending on your skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature) and lifestyle. Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment. For example, clients who use products containing AHA or Glycolic Acid will fade faster as these products promote skin renewal.

To maintain your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12-18 months.

Does it hurt?

The short answer is yes and the level depends on your personal pain tolerance. Some people experience a level of pain and discomfort during the treatment. Some people sleep through the entire treatment (believe it or not!). Each individual is different and experiences pain at different levels.

How long do I need for an appointment?

You will need 2.5 to 3 hours for your first Microblading appointment. During this session, your brow artist will shape, style and pre-draw your brows. Once you are happy with your new brow design, the treatment can proceed.

A follow up appointment takes place within 8 weeks after your initial appointment. You will need 1.5 to 2 hours for this session.

Can I choose the colour?

We have a range of pigment colours to suit all skin tones. We will show you the colours and consult with you on the day to help you with choosing the right shade.

What brand of pigments do you use?

We use Phibrows pigments which are made in Germany.

Should I wax or pluck my eyebrows before an appointment?

Waxing or plucking can be done up to 3 days prior to your appointment. Ensure you leave the hairs which are close to your eyebrow shape. The more hairs we have to work amongst, the more natural looking the result will be.

Are there any precautions to take before an appointment?

Before your appointment, avoid anything that will over-sensitise your skin such as retinoids, glycolic or alpha hydroxy acids and sun exposure.

Why do I need a touch up after my initial appointment?

For our first time clients, a complimentary touch up is included within 8 weeks of your first initial appointment. This is what we like to call a "perfecting appointment". Touch up allows us to correct any areas that may have faded during the healing process. Touch up also allows our clients to make any minor adjustments or tweaks to their brow shape or colour.

What factors will affect how long my Microblading results will last?

There are many factors which effect the longevity of your Microblading brows. Some of those factors include but not limited to, skin type, lifestyle and use of anti-ageing products. For example, people with oily skin will fade faster than people with normal skin. Sun exposure will fade and discolour pigments over time. Chlorine and salt water also fades pigments over time.

How do I look after my brows after an appointment?

Aftercare is very important when it comes to the appearance and longevity of your new brows and end healed results. We will talk you through aftercare at your appointment. Aftercare instructions will also be provided for you to take home.
